Peruvian Carved Gourd Rattle for Healing
Peruvian Carved Gourd Rattle for Healing
Rattles have been used for thousands of years by different civilizations as a tool for sacred ceremony and healing. Shakers or rattles were used in spiritual ceremonies and to help clear minds during prayer. They are one of the most common instruments used during ceremonies. In Native American history, rattles were used in ceremonies as well. While not all tribes used drums, all of them used rattles. This shows you the importance of the rattle in ceremony and healing.
As such, the Shamanic Rattle is a powerful tool that has been used in shamanic practices for healing, journeying, and calling to spirit in ceremony. Rattles are a powerful tool in Sound Healing and one that I prize in my own collection. I use my rattle every day to clear blockages in my chakras, call in spirit and celestial guides and remove negativity from my space. It is believed that the sound and vibration of the rattle can help to shift energy, create sacred space, and connect us with the spirit world.
These fair trade, hand-carved gourd rattles are made in Central Peru. The gourds are grown in the warm Central Valleys of the Andes, the coastal oasis, and in the jungles. After harvest, they are thoroughly dried, skinned, and then sanded smooth. The designs are carved on the gourd without sketching creating many intricate designs.
Gourd carving is one of the oldest art forms in Peru and dates back to 2,500 BC.
