While some say that Colombianite is a Tektite, similar to Moldavite, it is actually not a Tektite because it was not formed from a meteorite impact. Instead it is what is commonly known as a pseudo-tektite - similar in appearance, but from terrestrial origins, as in this case ancient volcanic activity. Columbianite is actually ancient forms of Obsidian, some of the oldest skeletal traces of Obsidian in the world! Although it is a form of Obsidian, this unique stone has powerful properties that are all its own. The legend of Columbianite is that if you feel called to it, you are destined for a higher spiritual mission.
